My projects involve how we can measure volcanic gases from the ground and from satellites. This can tell us about what a volcano is doing, as the chemistry of the gases they emit is linked to the chemistry of the magmatic processes of the volcano, so it can help with monitoring active volcanoes around the world.
I work in an area of science called astrochemistry… that’s all about trying to understand how chemical species are made in space, how they control the formation of stars and how they might seed planets with potential for life.
