That depends. I need to be in the lab to do experiments, but coming up with new ideas is something I can do anywhere. For that I prefer to be outside.

The best thing would be there to be no restrictions about where to work. At the moment I must do all of my “office” work at home and minimise time on campus. But I can still go into the lab with some planning to make sure the number of people on site is ok.

I’d prefer to be in my office at University where I can talk directly with my students and colleagues rather than being stuck at home at the end of an internet connection.

I like to have a combination of all of the above! I get bored if I do one thing for too long so try to work from home in the mornings, have some lab time in the afternoons and get outside if its a sunny day. Working at a university generally gives you more flexibility than working for a commercial chemistry company but I suspect the combination for working from home + a bit of office/lab time will be the new normal going forward
