To me there is nothing more stimulating than being surrounded by like-minded people. By talking to them you always get new inspirations for your work.

I’d very much depends. Sometimes when I’m writing and doing calculations, I prefer to be alone. Other times, it is useful to engage in discussions with your students and other scientists to help spread what you’ve learned or solve your own or other peoples scientific problems.

At first I wanted to work alone, but I realised that doing a PhD is about team work even though it’s called an individual project. It’s so important to ask questions when you need help. I found that I am supported by other PhD students, my supervisor, postdocs and friends at uni!

Honestly, it depends how I’m feeling on a given day. Sometimes you just want to get my head down and have no distractions and sometimes there might be a question I’m struggling with and would appreciate input from my fellow scientists
